We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our busy London Area business administration team. Whilst working with the team, you will have opportunity to undertake Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship, enhancing your skills in this profession. The apprenticeship will take approximately 12–18 months. Training is through online learning, remotely delivered one-to-one coaching support, and on the job. On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will have skills, knowledge and behaviours to undertake the responsibilities below in order to provide excellent secretarial support:
- Point of contact for the managers you support
- Collating and organising information – emails, files
- Managing calendars, booking travel and accommodation
- Organising and capturing actions in meetings, minute taking
- Drafting and preparing documents
- Sharing information with customers and stakeholders
You will be:
- Managing and keeping ahead of dynamic schedules, prioritising and tracking actions and commitments.
- Being of a pragmatic nature, prioritising will come naturally to you allowing you the ability to achieve timely outcomes in line with policies and procedures.
- The initial point of contact and executive support for the London Area Leadership Team.
- Required to be fully flexible, providing comprehensive administrative support and effective communication.
- Interested and motivated to develop your understanding of the Environment Agency and driven to make a difference.
- A high level of initiative is required to prioritise tasks and information (often sensitive), to keep the leadership team fully informed on key messages, managing effectiveness of their time.
The team 1
You will be part of a friendly approachable team of Business Support staff that help each other in the delivery of work for the Area Leadership Team, working closely with the Area Director’s Personal Assistant. Therefore, team working and a positive attitude are essential. The position is situated within the London Area Office of the Environment Agency.
Experience/skills required 1
No previous experience is required as the apprenticeship will provide you with the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviours to be fully effective in the role. However, it would be advantageous to have the following:
- Experience working in Business Administration or similar
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively at a fast pace to constantly shifting deadlines and parameters without compromising on quality
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to pick up new IT systems quickly
- Ability to work proactively
- An eye for detail and takes pride in their work
To be eligible for this apprenticeship post, you must possess GCSE passes in Maths and English and do not hold academic qualifications above a Level 4 (foundation degree or higher). Please see Candidate Pack for more details.
Contact and additional information 1
You will be responsible for completing all aspects of the apprenticeship to the required standard, failure to complete may lead to the termination of the contract. 20% of your working week will be solely dedicated to the apprenticeship.
This role is London based and attracts London Weighting Allowance of £3889.
