IT Technician

Summary of the Role
The ICT Technician will be the first point of contact for IT Support incidents and problem management within the organisation and should be able to manage expectations when faced with unidentified faults. The ICT Technician should take pride in responding quickly and effectively to all support requirements and take an open approach to helping everyone get the best out of the IT Systems. As well as day-to-day support, they are also required to monitor all critical systems, such as anti-virus, web monitoring and respond to alerts generated by these systems appropriately.
The Key Responsibilities
- Act as a point of contact for internal staff providing friendly and efficient support for all IT issues
- Provide support when required and the troubleshooting of IT-related problems from software to hardware
- Administer local and cloud-based user accounts and ensure appropriate level of security is applied
- Ensure both staff and students adhere to Expanse’s ICT policies and procedures
- Manage the IT asset register and assess physical security requirements to protect against loss
- Work to the achievement of established Key Performance Indicator targets (such as Average Speed Resolution).
- Manage the rollout of new ICT equipment including unpacking, configuration and delivery.
- Dispatch faulty equipment to our suppliers for repair and track external support calls
- Make best use of all resources to support the learning and attainment of students
- Assist in the development and implementation of policy and procedures as directed by the Head of Shared Services
- To take an active role in the on-going development of the company’s ICT systems i.e., Cyber Security, Azure AD etc
- To undertake necessary training associated with the position
- Participate in regular team meetings and provide feedback
- Any other reasonable tasks as directed by the Head of Shared Services
Your Qualifications / Skills & Knowledge
- 2+ year’s IT support experience
- Outstanding organisational and time-management skills
- Excellent knowledge of Office 365 (including Admin Centre and Azure AD)
- Excellent knowledge of cyber security requirements (SOPHOS is desirable)
- Previous experience working in a helpdesk environment
- Knowledge of networking
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as IT Technician or relevant position
- Apprenticeship or similar qualification within IT
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills and in depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
- Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles (GDPR)
- The ability to explain problems and solutions clearly to non-technical users
- The ability to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines
- The ability to work alone or as part of a team
- An awareness of health and safety
- Willing to travel across all provisions/departments
- Full UK driving licence
