About us
The Faculty of Life Sciences (FLS) combines the strengths of UCL’s basic biological and preclinical sciences, some of its constituent research departments have long and distinguished histories that can be traced back to the early nineteenth century when UCL was founded and there are 9 Nobel Laureates associated with Life Sciences. The Faculty continues to build on existing strengths in cell and developmental biology, computational biology, evolutionary and population genetics, cellular and circuits neuroscience, and structural and molecular biology. In 2012 the merger with the School of Pharmacy provided new opportunities in drug discovery and the Faculty also hosts joint appointments with the Francis Crick Institute. There are six areas which make up FLS; the School of Pharmacy, Biosciences, the Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology, the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for Neurocircuits and Behaviour, the Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit and the Cruciform Teaching Facilities Unit.
About the role
This is a pivotal post within the Faculty team and provides an excellent opportunity for the right applicant to develop a career in university administration. The role will provide dedicated support to the Vice-Deans in their respective areas of operation and other members of the Senior Leadership team including the Dean and Director of Operations when required. Duties will include diary management, arranging meetings and committee servicing. Please see the full Job description for further details. The successful candidate will be expected to be adaptable, quickly assimilate information and establish their own support networks across UCL and as the role requires interaction with many people within and external to UCL, a professional attitude, willingness to help, and ability to remain tactful and assertive are required in order to adequately execute the duties outlined. Building effective and positive working relationships at all levels is essential.
About you
The post holder will be educated to A level standard, or NVQ Level IV administration or have substantial relevant experience. They will have experience of working in EA/PA role, in a large or complex organisation. The successful candidate will have experience of servicing high-level committees or working groups including meeting preparation and minute taking. They will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure. Experience of Diary Management is essential for this role.
