About the role
The role
You will be responsible for supporting the deployment of applications, as well as configuring and maintaining the infrastructure required to support them. You will show enthusiasm for systems administration, keeping up to date with the latest operating systems, tools and techniques. You will be required to design, manage and develop all aspects of the IT networks and be conscious of security and will work closely with internal stakeholders and end users to design and ultimately manage changes and improvements to the network/computing environment.
The Client
The client is recruiting for a Systems & Network Engineer with confidence to perform in a fast-paced business environment and the desire to deliver excellent solutions and service. You must have experience of supporting operational teams and development teams.
Responsibilities
Be proactive in day-to-day management of the estate.
Installing and maintaining LAN/WAN/Wireless networks and devices, conducting circuit and traffic analysis, troubleshooting any issues for firewalls and routing
Developing new internal processes and procedures as required and reviewing existing processes and procedures for accuracy, consistency and relevance
Conduct proactive maintenance and administration of network services
Perform service interruption recovery and conduct root cause analysis
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge on network technologies and features as well as potential integration and added value with other services
Define, implement and test regular business continuity procedures to confirm own areas are ready in the event of an unplanned outage or major incident
Participate in projects as an infrastructure resource, providing recommendations and performing tasks as required.
Establish and monitor the VPNs and network tunnels, define and maintain IP addresses
Support users with system issues (Operating System, Hardware and Software)
Support Junior IT Engineers with complex IT issues
Monitor Systems and Network using monitoring tools
Support the business out of hours (on a rota basis)
Essential experience
Building and configuration of infrastructure estate
Configuration and maintenance of the network and associated devices
Monitoring capacity and reliability of the systems
Computer networking, administration and installation
Experience of back up options, configuring computer networking and troubleshooting
Experience in network design
Expert knowledge of network security and platforms
An understanding of Active Directory and Group Policy and its functions
Good understanding of PowerShell
