About the Trust


Stepping Hill Hospital is located on Poplar Grove Stockport, and it is easily accessible via both car and public transport. There is on-site parking (fees will apply). It has an on-site restaurant where staff are eligible for a discount. There is also a café where drinks and light snacks are available. There are also on-site shops and free Wi-Fi.


What you’ll be responsible for:


· Maintain consultants diaries.


· Collate information for clinical audits if required.


· Undertake medical audio/copy typing duties including outpatient letters to General Practitioners and any other official correspondence i.e reports using the voice recognition system.


· Arranging appointments as required by liaising with the central appointments team.


· Be responsible for arranging special tests requested by the Consultant or Junior Medical Staff and collation of investigation results.


· Responsible for obtaining relevant investigation results from PACS and Intranet result service.


· To deal with day-to-day incoming mail, assigning priority and/or taking any necessary action without reference to consultant staff if necessary and within remit.


The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.


You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust:


· An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS.


· Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times.


· A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation.


You’ll have the following skills/experience:


· GCSE English OR equivalent experience


· RSA II Typing or equivalent OR equivalent typing experience


· AMSPAR Medical Secretarial Qualification and or Extensive Medical Secretary Experience


· Previous medical secretarial experience


· Knowledge of medical terminology


· Excellent telephone manner


· Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)


This role may require you to show evidence of vocational level 3 qualification or at least 2 years Medical Secretary experience.
