IT Project Lead Full Time

Reporting to the Head of IT Operations, the IT Project Manager is one of the digital team’s critical functions in delivering successful technology projects aligned with our company’s vision. This new role is integral to the success of Careys 5-year Strategic Plan and goal to deliver digital transformation that drives business value.




As an experienced IT Project Manager, you will play a critical role in planning, executing, and closing IT projects of various scales and complexities. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including system providers, business stakeholders, and the transformation team to ensure that projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. Your leadership and expertise will be instrumental in driving the success of our technology projects.




You will have responsibility for coaching the IT teams and business to support the drive towards a structured project management IT framework where digital projects are successfully delivered and add value to the Company.




Key Responsibilities






· The ideal candidate must have strong experience in all of the below areas to be able to deliver exceptional projects into the business.


  • Project Planning and Initiation:

  • Lead the project initiation phase, defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables.

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets.

  • Identify and allocate necessary resources, including team members and third-party vendors.

  • Project Execution:

  • Manage project teams, including assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring adherence to timelines.

  • Implement project management best practices, methodologies, and tools.

  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration among project stakeholders.

Budget and Resource Management:


  • Monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring cost-effectiveness.

  • Manage resource allocation and utilization to optimize project outcomes.

  • Quality Assurance:

  • Establish and enforce quality standards and best practices.

  • Conduct regular quality reviews and audits to ensure project deliverables meet specifications.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, providing regular project updates.

  • Address stakeholder concerns and manage expectations.

  • Change Management:

  • Effectively manage changes to project scope, schedule, and objectives.

  • Assess the impact of changes and implement necessary adjustments.

  • Project Closure:

  • Ensure all project deliverables are met and approved by stakeholders.

  • Conduct post-project evaluations and gather feedback for continuous improvement.

  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive project closure reports.





Skills, Knowledge and Expertise






A role model of The Carey Group Values and Behaviours and a key enabler of the Carey Group strategy, the IT Project Manager will drive the right behaviours within the IT team and business to successfully deliver core projects. This role also communicates this information to management and other stakeholders in a non-technical language. An experienced individual who is excited by the opportunity to develop a strong project management and agile culture, having a strong background in a variety of project management tools and understanding how to drive excitement across the Group.

Must be a good communicator with the ability to engage and challenge all levels of the business. With a proven ability to motivate teams around them by always communicating with high levels of purpose, integrity, and emotional intelligence, recognising contributions, celebrating successes and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.


Skills & Experience


  • Communication skills are essential in this role and you must know about the need to translate technical concepts into non-technical language and understand what communication is required for internal and external stakeholders.

  • At least 5 years of delivering complex IT and Digital projects from inception to completion.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product and service development.

  • Experience working with business stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.

  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.

  • Experience of applying project governance in a maturing business

  • Proven experience using a variety of Project Management tools such as MS Project, Primavera etc Proven experience with agile methodologies such as Six Sigma etc

  • Has proven experience in vendor management.

  • Has experience and knowledge of applying ITIL methodologies.

Our story starts in 1969 with three brothers and a van.

John, Tom and Pat Carey moved to London from Ireland and started a groundworks contracting company in London called PJ Carey Plant Hire (Oval) Ltd.
