The role
As the product manager you will be responsible for every aspect of the product(s) success and life cycle, and working with the business, digital and technology functions to achieve this.
The role objective is to successfully manage a portfolio of digital and technology products by owning the support and maintenance, financial accountability, customer (internal and external) relationships, supplier and vendor relationships, backlogs and development, and providing leadership and matrix management as part of product development and product life cycles. Products maybe internally facing, customer/consumer facing, supplier/provider facing and any combination.
This role sits at the intersection of technology, business, and design – balancing the needs of the customer with business interests and technical viability.
What you’ll be doing
- Responsible for problem resolution and working with a junior product manager to manage the change requests of multiple stakeholders, ensuring they are aligned with business goals and transformation initiatives
- A stakeholder in a programme which is transforming the product portfolio ensuring suppliers are engaged at the right time and BAU changes are balanced with customer need and the transformation roadmap
- Responsible for development of products not part of the transformation programme from working with stakeholders (users, customers, business, digital, technology and vendors).
- Ensures that product design meets the needs of the users and business in partnership with UX and service designers in Is responsible for the product(s) financials, and understand the value to the organisation.
- Manages product releases by working with technical team, suppliers, and the business to ensure all aspects of change, testing and business process are delivered.
- Writes product specifications and requirements, appraising new product ideas, creating user stories and acceptance scenarios/criteria. Ensures technical teams have all the necessary information to deliver a desirable product to market.
- Ensures product features are user tested and follow UX and accessibility best practice whenever viable.
- Follows and understands technology trends to inform ongoing product development, this includes assessing market competition by comparing the product to competitors and other suppliers. In addition, work with digital and technology to understand the wider technology used in the organisation.
- Contributes to the Digital and Technology department strategy, is part of the Product Management community in the organisation.
What you’ll need to be successful
- Experience of reviewing and proposing new tools, platforms, or processes.
- Strong attention to detail along with good business awareness, project management, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Good understanding of technology used by the products.
- Ability to co-ordinate several streams of work simultaneously and lead teams.
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Supplier management.
- Finance and budget responsibility experience.
- Good understanding of change management principles and empathy with stakeholders
- Experience of working with databases.
