The Kingston Hospital IM&T department maintains an enterprise environment of over 200 servers, 4000 end users, and two data centres, providing a 24-hour service to clinical and medical staff.

We are looking for an experienced network engineer. This is a vital role within the Trust that focuses on ensuring the network is robust and meets the evolving requirements of frontline Healthcare in our complex infrastructure. This is a permanent vacancy in the IT Network Services Team for an IT Network Specialist engineer who will act as the focal point for IM&T expert advice in IT Networks and guidance across a range of IM&T areas. The ideal candidate will need to be self-driven and able to demonstrate they are keen to develop.

Key Responsibilities


  • The technical expert for installing, upgrading, operating, controlling, maintaining, and effectively using the local and remote networks and communicating data, voice, text, or images.

  • Maintain the security, integrity and confidentiality of LAN and WAN services through appropriate management and administration of anti-Malware, Firewall, and Remote Access Services.

  • Implement the appropriate Network controls and procedures to protect information systems assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure, or destruction.

  • Manages the timely and effective handling of enquiries and requests for guidance or investigation, diagnosis and resolution of IT infrastructure incidents and problems managed through the Problem Management Process.

  • Investigates and diagnoses complex Local and Wide Area Network problems, working with users, other staff, and suppliers as appropriate. Resolves such issues with capacity management, network control and operations functions to maintain the overall network performance.
