Job Purpose

The Solutions Architect role is responsible for designing, describing, and overseeing the technical solution for a given set of business requirements. They provide technical vision and leadership, striking a pragmatic balance between architectural best practise and practical, deliverable solutions.

The role facilitates the interface between the business and the technology delivery teams, including the Business Analysis, Infrastructure, and IT Security functions. They also maintain a key relationship with any third-party System Integrators chosen to augment in-house capability.

The role demands a thorough understanding of the end-to-end Cash Management process and operation and the interaction between the constituent parts. Its primary consideration is to map business process/requirements to systems/technical solutions whilst ensuring full alignment with the IT strategy. The aim being to deliver flexible, coherent, and automated IT initiatives in support of the company’s business strategy and ever-changing corporate needs.

Day-to-day activities include liaising with the Business Analysis team on functional and non-functional requirement specification, engaging with IT Security to ensure best practises are adhered to, designing and documenting solutions and supporting the development and test teams in the delivery and deployment phases. The role also provides oversight and approval of the low-level design deliverables prepared by the Development Technical Leads.

Main Responsibilities

• Actively contribute and lead impact assessment of new business and technical change requests.


• Provide architectural guidance and produce and/or modify technical roadmaps and transition states in-line with IT strategy to support and inform programs of work.


• Produce high quality solution design documentation meeting the business and technical functional and non-functional requirements including traceability audit and costings.


• Facilitate creation and modification of the infrastructure design documentation, collaborating closely with the cloud, on-premises, and network infrastructure teams.


• Support the Development Technical Leads on the low-level solution designs and implementation.


• Involvement in evaluation and selection of new software, hardware, and suppliers


• Maintain and contribute to internal architectural patterns library.
Be informed of emerging and maturing technologies across the market and recommend/implement enhancements/improvements/innovation where it benefits/fits with the architectural needs of the business.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Needed for the Job

Essential

• Practical experience of delivering a Target Architecture Model


• Technical business/systems analysis


• Communication (written, verbal and inter-personal)


• Extensive business/technical knowledge


• Broad IT expertise across the whole IT spectrum (software, infrastructure, networks)


• Experience across a wide variety of solutions and technologies, spanning in-house bespoke development, third party, COTS packages and integration.


• Creation of solution design documentation


• Cloud platform architecture and design (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)


• Stakeholder management (internal and external)


• Supplier management and collaboration


• Presentation skills

Desirable

• IT service management (ITIL)


• Infrastructure design – on prem


• Azure SaaS, PaaS, IaaS design


• Experience of Data Migration and Data Management


• IT Security frameworks, patterns, and practises
