IT Systems Engineer (Lostock)

Job Purpose
A System Engineer is responsible for the continued operation of Severfield’s infrastructure through a lifecycle process of planning, design and implementation. Additional responsibilities consist of Change Management, Incident Response and Problem escalation from other members of the I.T Team.
The primary objective of the role will be to ensure the proficient operation of the I.T Infrastructure ranging from networking to Server operating systems and end user escalations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for Systems Management – management of servers, switches, and associated IT infrastructure. Maintain systems availability and protective monitoring of all systems
- Provide Tier 3 IT Support and act as an escalation point for System Administrators
- Involved in Group Project Work and will also act as Technical Lead for some projects
- Involved in R&D Project Work and identification of new systems and solutions
- Implementation, design, and support of network infrastructure including firewalls, routers and switches
- Deploying new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software and operating systems
- Assist in the planning, development, and maintenance of IT systems across the Group
- Assist with mentoring and development of System Administrators
Educational background required
- Good standard of general education
- Vendor Certifications such as CCNA beneficial
Job-related experience required
5 years plus in a similar role. It would be beneficial to be from a manufacturing background but not essential.
