Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic medical receptionist to join our team on a part time basis. Previous experience in general practice is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.
Hours of work:
15.5 hours
Tuesday 1:30pm – 5:30pm
Thursday 10:30am – 6:30pm
Friday 2:30pm – 6:30pm

About us
Central Park Surgery is a small GP practice based in Leyland with a patient population of approximately 5,000 patients. Our team consists of four GPs, three Nurse Practitioners, one Practice Nurse and a Healthcare Assistant. Our clinicians are closely supported by an excellent administration/reception and management team. We strive to deliver the highest standard of patient care and maintain good working relationships with external services.

Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the Medical Receptionist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent on factors such as workload and staffing levels:
Process and effectively signpost patients to the appropriate healthcare professional depending on the presenting condition
Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the caller’s requests appropriately
Process patient requests for appointments
Process repeat prescription requests
Action incoming emails and correspondence as necessary
Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members and external agencies
Enter read code data on EMIS Web
Photocopy documentation as required
Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
Input data into the patients’ healthcare records as necessary
Direct requests for information, e.g., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms, to the secretarial team
Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
Scan patient-related documentation and attach scanned documents to patients healthcare records
Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
Monitor and maintain the reception area and noticeboards
Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
Undertake all mandatory training and induction programmes
Attend a formal appraisal with their manager at least every 12 months. Once a performance/training objective has been set, progress will be reviewed on a regular basis so that new objectives can be agreed

- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
