Scope




The IT Business Analyst is responsible for gaining a deep understanding of requirements and processes, an essential aspect of successful change delivery. The Business Analyst role will work with the wider IT and IT Projects Team to manage a pipeline of work from across the Firm, from inception to completion; ensuring that requirements are met, testing completed appropriately and benefits are clear and realised.







Responsibilities





  • Take a lead role in business analysis activity.

  • Facilitate in person, virtual and hybrid workshops to gather requirements and agree project objectives.

  • Stakeholder management - working very closely with the business and key stakeholders at all levels of seniority to understand projects from a business perspective.

  • Consider opportunities and risks.

  • Help to address any uncertainty and concerns raised by stakeholders.

  • Define and document business processes and requirements, including As Is analysis and To Be designs.

  • Creating detailed business analysis documentation, outlining problems, opportunities, and possible solutions.

  • Test lead to define the testing approach and the components of testing to ensure traceability of requirements and effectiveness of overall solution.

  • Identify benefits and design ways to measure benefits throughout and beyond the project end.

  • Periodically review revised processes and implemented solutions to ensure benefits continue to be realised.

  • Identify any problems with the current business processes.

  • Take an active and hands-on approach in projects.






Skills and Experience





  • Ability to quickly gain a business and technical understanding of a project and come up with suitable solutions.

  • Experienced in requirements engineering.

  • Analytical and critical thinker.

  • Methodical and thorough, showing good attention to detail.

  • Strong documentation and presentation skills.

  • Outstanding client facing and internal communication skills.

  • Strong collaborative team skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with the team and stakeholders.

  • Knowledge and awareness of Project Management principles, documentation and plans.

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work.

  • Exceptional customer service skills.






Education and Qualifications





  • Business Analyst qualification (e.g. BCS certification or equivalent) advantageous.

  • Operational experience of Project Management and Business Analysis

  • Experience in using tools that support business analysis and project management e.g. Visio, Smartsheet

  • Credibility within the project delivery environment and ability to positively and sensitively engage and influence others.

  • Experience of successfully deploying business analysis tools/techniques to enable business change.






Special aspects






  • The role will be working standard office hours, between 09.30 and 17:30 but it is essential that the applicant is committed, flexible and prepared to work beyond the normal office hours when necessary and in response to demand.

  • The IT Team operates well with flexible people, each possessing good analytical and interpersonal skills.

  • Weekend work may occasionally be required in order to support and deliver project work

  • Happy to talk flexible working. Farrer & Co is open to flexible working by arrangement although this role is intended as a full-time position.
