Welfare Benefits provide a lifeline to people in that position, but each year more than £16bn work of welfare benefits goes unclaimed in the UK. Welfare Benefits Team works to identify unclaimed benefits and make sure our clients are not missing out on money that they are rightfully entitled to.


Last year, we helped to secure £1.5m in additional benefits for our clients and we plan to grow that year on year. As such, we are now looking to expand our existing team and require an experienced administrator to join us.



Purpose of the Role


The main purpose of this role is to provide comprehensive administrative support to the Welfare Benefits Team.


This is a full time (37.5 hours per week) and permanent opportunity with flexible working considered. Part time hours considered (minimum 20 hours per week).



Key Responsibilities



  • To undertake administrative duties for the Welfare Benefits Team including but not limited to - triaging cases, management of ongoing work, invoicing and providing updated to clients.

  • Case management duties and ensuring that the client database is accurate and up to date at all times.

  • Supporting the Welfare Benefits Team to process cases including assisting with postal duties.

  • Speak to clients and their representatives on a regular basis to understand their personal circumstances and financial situations.

  • Maintain case records for the purpose of the continuity of casework, information retrieval and providing reports where required.

  • To work as part of a tram to ensure clients' incomes are fully maximised.

  • To deal sensitively and professionally with customers in a manner that recognises their needs.

  • To identify in conjunction with the Welfare Benefits Manager opportunities for professional development.

  • Contribute to set performance targets.



Experience



  • A minimum of two years' recent experience in office administration,

  • A willingness to undertake appropriate training.

  • A knowledge of the welfare benefits system or a knowledge of working with vulnerable clients would be desirable.



Skills & Abilities



  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work sensitively with vulnerable clients, in particular clients who have sustained brain injuries, have cognitive difficulties, or have complex needs.

  • Excellent organisational skill and ability to effectively priorities a varied workload and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Computer skills including Microsoft office and web-based applications.

  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.

  • A keen interest in the social welfare system.

  • A desire to support vulnerable clients.

  • Diplomatic and sensitive to client's circumstances.
