About the Role

We are seeking a skilled System Administrator who is proficient in Linux operating systems, with expertise in securing the operating system and scripting for setting up servers from scratch. This is a dynamic role and the ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and managing container-based virtual environments, installing and managing databases, setting up development environments, and deploying container-based services and applications.

Key responsibilities in this role will include: (not an exhaustive list, only main important things)

• Design, implement, and maintain complex Linux and Windows environments


• Install, configure, and maintain container-based virtual environments using tools like Docker and Kubernetes


• Install, configure, and maintain databases like MySQL, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL


• Develop and maintain automation scripts using shell scripting, Ansible and/or Python to streamline processes and automate system administration tasks


• Manage and maintain development environments, including IDEs, version control, and other development tools


• Collaborate with other team members to deploy container-based services


• Ensure system security by implementing appropriate security measures, including firewalls, access controls, and encryption


• Keep up-to-date with emerging trends in system administration and recommend new tools and techniques to improve system performance, reliability, and security.

About you

What you’ll need

• Demonstrable years of experience in Linux system and Windows administration


• Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes


• Experience with database administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance


• Strong scripting skills, including shell scripting, Ansible and/or Python


• Strong working knowledge of AWS, Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IAC)


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


• Excellent communication and collaboration skills


• A self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment


• AWS certifications would be ideal
