You will be working with our IT department, based in the London office, supporting over 280 people who are based in our London or Nottingham sites with both office based and remote workers. The IT Team is currently made up of 5 individuals with roles varying from head of department to apprentice, each team member brings their own skills and enhances the services we provide to our end users.

Role overview


We have an opportunity for an experienced network administrator to join our IT team based in the London office as our IT Supervisor. Reporting directly to the Senior IT Manager, the successful candidate should have experience of working in a tech support environment working on both end user issues and also having experience or resolving problems on the server side. In addition, as a small IT team, you will be expected to provide second line support/cover to our end users. Training will be provided and you will be able to draw upon our knowledge base. Working with other senior team members, you will be responsible for mentoring, training and supporting our junior team members including apprentices. This is a varied role which encompasses network administration, end user support and team management and would suit someone who enjoys the challenges and unpredictability that are part of supporting an SME. We will encourage you to suggest improvements to our existing infrastructure, agree them with the Senior IT Manager and implement them. The firms network runs in two location, London and Nottingham, so whilst you will be based at the London office, you will be required to travel to Nottingham on occasions for upgrades/infrastructure changes. Job Description


Duties will include:



  • Managing an IT support team via a helpdesk system and providing support yourself

  • Day to day network administration including patch/update management

  • Configuring SAN storage when needed

  • Configuring new servers to be deployed into the cluster

  • Troubleshooting backups when there are problems

  • Improving existing policies and procedures around network maintenance

  • Working with our other IT Supervisor and Senior IT Manager towards Cyber Essentials Plus

  • Mentoring junior colleagues, teaching them both IT skills and management skills

  • Providing occasional out of hours support (1st line)


Training



  • Training will be provided in any apps specific to us to allow 1st, 2nd or 3rd line support

  • Our knowledgebase contains a wealth of info relating to our apps and network

  • We support our team members in gaining MS qualifications which relate to their role in the business and allow them to add value to the team.


Working arrangements


The working week: 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday) to be worked from 9.30AM to 5.30PM with occasionally some flexibility of hours to meet specific work demands


Location: Your principal work base is our London Office. However, you will be required to spend time working in our Nottingham office on occasions where infrastructure improvements require an onsite presence.

Person specifications



  • Ideal candidate must be passionate about IT and be able to demonstrate the ability to innovate solutions in previous roles.

  • Educated to at least GCSE/NVQ level (or equivalent) ideally in computing related subjects.

  • Candidate should be able to lead a team and inspire them with a strong management style

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills are essential. The successful candidate will need to give guidance and instruction to non-technical employees and partners of the firm.

  • The ability to troubleshoot IT issues from start to finish, documenting as you go and applying the same methodical approach to varying issues is essential.

  • Good time management with the ability to prioritise

  • Ability to take initiative


Knowledge & experience



  • An ICT GCSE (or equivalent) qualification would be useful

  • Experience of working in an accountancy practice would be an advantage

  • Proven track record of managing a clustered Hyper-V network with centralised storage is essential

  • Desirable - a knowledge of Azure AD, MS qualifications and a knowledge of Mimecast.
