We are seeking a highly motivated IT Service Desk Engineer to join our small but growing team within IT Operations. The team manages an infrastructure that is primarily based on Microsoft Azure, Office and Dynamics 365, with a hardware stack based around the Lenovo ThinkPad range and as the successful candidate, you will help us manage this infrastructure and support the staff who use it.

Whilst experience, qualifications or certifications from Microsoft Learn are advantageous, we don't require specialist experience across any or all these products. You will need to demonstrate a professional, friendly and approachable manner, a growth mindset and a willingness to learn from the subject matter experts who are already part of the Sage IT team. You will need to be methodical in your approach to problem solving , diligent in your adherence to processes as well as effective written and oral communication skills.

The day-to-day requirements of this role will vary depending on the demand from the business but will centre around monitoring change, managing the hardware inventory, assisting in the delivery of IT training and responding to the range of help queries from internal staff across the company hierarchy.

The successful candidate will benefit from exposure to the full spectrum of the Microsoft technology stack, exposure to industry-leading security products and a permanent place in an ever evolving IT Team. This is a great opportunity for someone in the early stages of their career in technology.

Duties include:

• Manage the hardware stock and manage purchasing in collaboration with the Operations Manager.


• Assist with license management


• Liaise with users to resolve requests in line with given SLAs


• Stay up-to-date on the latest technologies within the tech stack


• Monitor usage, capacity and security


• Suggest improvements with a view to enhance the experience of the users

The successful candidate should ideally have some skills and awareness of the following:

• Office 365 – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams


• Comfortable with general IT support


• Managing user permissions


• Awareness of structured data management


• Good problem solving skills


• Excellent communication skills


• Awareness of software delivery lifecycle (ITSM)


• Managing a shared work queue
