At the United Kingdom Health Security Agency (UKHSA) our mission is to provide health security for the nation by protecting from infectious disease and external hazards. We are a trusted source of advice to government and to the public, focusing on reducing inequalities in the way different communities experience and are impacted by infectious disease, environmental hazards, and other threats to health.
The Pathogen Diagnostic Assurance Group (PDAG) supports the UK Government in the ongoing testing tpo COVID-19 and other pathogens. As a Service Delivery Officer, you will manage the day-to-day service delivery activity, as well as lead on discrete projects which including supporting the development and ongoing delivery of a diagnostic accelerator. You will undertake all administrative functions within the PDAG Team.

Location
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) offers Remote working – this means that whilst the role will be based in one of our offices, there will be working from home. UKHSA have office locations across the UK.
This role can be based at one of our UKHSA offices/locations (Leeds, Manchester, Totnes, London, Horsham, Cardiff, Bristol, Nottingham, Harlow, Liverpool, Fareham, Gloucester, Newcastle and Birmingham) with working from home. You will be asked to express a location preference during the application process. The balance between home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager, determined primarily by business needs and in line with departmental policy.
Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas. Relocation expenses are not available.

Responsibilities section:
The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:
- To develop effective working relationships and communication through various methods (phone, email, face to face) with a diverse range of individuals including clinical, non-clinical staff, scientists, managers and corporate team.
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to teams across the Directorate.
- Lead and act as point of contact for a range of business administrative duties, including delegating responsibilities for certain function processes.
- Effective, prompt communication with internal and external stakeholders enquiries
- Responsible for the organisation of meetings and events and production of reports, papers, minutes and updating action logs as required.
- Support the development of systems and procedures to ensure efficiency, quality and cost effectiveness across the business support and administration function.
- Participate in relevant internal working groups/projects, services and initiatives across the organisation representing the Team, Directorate or Centre.
- Carry out timely and accurate information analysis and reporting, including developing and maintaining databases.
- Contribute to effective information management (including maintaining administrative and information resources, i.e. filing systems) and assist with the dissemination and/or collation of information/returns, in a timely manner.
- Responsible for organising and controlling own workload ensuring deadlines are observed and duties performed efficiently.

Essential Criteria:

Essential
- Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent qualification and/or equivalent experience
- Experience of organising meetings and producing supporting paperwork, including agendas and taking minutes/action notes
- Experienced at working under pressure handling multiple tasks and prioritising own workload
- Significant administrative/ secretarial experience including developing, implementing and maintaining office systems and handling sensitive information
- IT skills and advanced Microsoft Office experience, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
Desirable
- Experience working in a public sector organisation
- Ability to use digital tools

STAGE 1 – APPLICATION & SIFT:

If you are successful at this stage, you will progress to an interview.
STAGE 2 – INTERVIEW
This competition will involve an interview by video.
As part of the process, candidates will be invited to interview which will involve an in-depth discussion of your previous experience and professional competence in relation to the criteria set out in the Person Specification.
Your Statement of Suitability should outline your skills, experience, and achievements, providing evidence of your suitability for the role, with reference to the essential criteria (outlined in the person specification section).
You will also be asked to provide information within the ‘Employer/ Activity history’ section of the application form. This is equivalent to the information you would provide on a CV, setting out your career history.
