Your Role, Your Impact
As the Director of Service Charge Accounting, you will be focusing on continuous improvement to meet customer needs, enhance efficiency, and improve service delivery. The position offers an opportunity to drive process enhancements and elevate service quality, contributing to the company's future success. FirstPort aims to professionalize its service delivery and set industry standards through collaboration with trade associations, developers, and institutional landlords.
You will lead a team of service charge accounting managers, accountants, and administrators, ensuring efficient service for internal and external customers and contractors. This includes driving innovation, improving processes, and managing BAU financial service charge delivery, with a focus on resolving financial inquiries and complaints proactively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine the Service Charge Accounting strategy, ensuring the business has the right skills and capabilities.
- Define, measure, and improve key service and efficiency metrics.
- Optimise team productivity and ensure SLAs are met.
- Identify opportunities to improve output quality and productivity.
- Plan for the mobilisation and demobilisation of service charge activities.
- Engage with external clients to build confidence in service delivery and support growth.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, processes, and accounting procedures.
- Drive a positive, inclusive people culture that fosters opportunity and delivers results.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 10+ years leading and scaling support teams within finance with a customer-focused approach.
- Extensive experience in high transaction volume environments, emphasizing service, efficiency, and process.
- Proven track record in service development, strategic planning, and execution.
- Strong background in process orientation, standard operating procedures, and achieving results.
- Expertise in defining strategy, process, and effectively communicating plans to drive improvements.
- Ability to balance tactical issues with long-term strategic goals.
- Experience in delivering scalable solutions.
- Skilled at inspiring and leading teams to deliver outstanding results across the business.
Personal Qualities:
- Excellent and inspiring communication and presentation skills with a clear ability to influence effectively across a matrix organisation and at senior levels.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills.
- Proven strong analytical skills in evaluating opportunities with data and using these to best advantage using strong commercial acumen.
- Comfortable in an evolving and ambiguous environment, not fazed by change and transformation at pace, and importantly can take people with them on the journey.
- Good leadership skills with ability to inspire, motivate, and coach direct reports and influence the wider team.
- Adaptable in communication style, displays gravitas with strong knowledge about their functional area and a passion for delivery.
