The Role To support Howden Re in continually improving financial performance and decision-making through reporting, analysis, and planning. This role will assist the Finance Directors and Finance Business Partners in reporting and analysing results across all offices, performing trend analysis to ensure consistency in performance and processes, and supporting and reviewing budgets, forecasts, and actuals. What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide high-quality and timely advice, information, analysis, reporting, and interpretation to support effective decision-making and performance management.
- Develop an understanding of the business and support reporting to each team.
- Understand the drivers of business performance, identifying trends, areas of opportunity, or remedial action, and influence the implementation of initiatives to address these.
- Analyse finance packs and perform trend analysis of performance.
- Conduct detailed reviews of highlighted areas based on business needs.
- Support the improvement of management reporting and analysis.
- Assist in maintaining team structures and systems.
- Help maintain and improve financial reporting IT systems.
- Understand current business processes and assist in developing systems and procedures to ensure strong financial controls across relevant business units within Howden UK.
- Support senior managers in delivering group objectives.
- Develop strong working relationships with the wider Finance team and key contacts in Howden Re.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ambitious and self-motivated.
- Ability to react positively to change.
- Ability to think laterally and solve problems using own initiative, challenging the status quo where necessary.
- Base understanding of finance and finance functions.
- Experience in providing commercial analysis and knowledge of management accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Experience with OneStream (desirable).
- Experience in the insurance industry (desirable).
- Project and task management experience (desirable).
- Experience in implementing and improving processes and controls (desirable).
- ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified.
