What does the job involve? Equinor believes sustainably produced lithium can be an enabler in the energy transition. By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to shape Equinor’s lithium marketing strategy and build strategic partnerships with key customers in our core markets in Asia, Europe and North America.

What will my tasks be?

Within this position, your key tasks will be to:

  • Develop and execute on Equinor’s strategy for marketing and sales of lithium.

  • Analyse the global lithium market and the related value chain including cathode, anode, battery cell, Electric Vehicle and Energy storage system manufacturing.

  • Analyse and monitor prioritised customers within the lithium-ion battery supply chains in Asia, Europe and North America.

  • Analyse and monitor the short, medium and long term trends relating to battery technology within Electric Vehicle and energy Storage applications.

  • Build and maintain a network of existing and potential future customers for sustainably produced lithium.

  • Develop strategic partnerships with customers in Equinor’s core markets across Asia, Europe and North America based on a clear understanding of customer needs.

  • Negotiate offtake contacts either for Equinor’s lithium chemical production or the production from the joint ventures in which Equinor is participating.

  • Market and execute sales agreements for the merchant volumes from the lithium projects in which Equinor is participating.

  • Manage the client relationships during the pre-qualification process for battery grade lithium chemicals to potential customers.

  • Produce regular reports, data workbooks and presentations for Equinor stakeholders.

  • Commercial professional with deep knowledge gained globally across the entire battery materials value chain.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, finance or other relevant commercial disciplines. Relevant experience may compensate for formal qualifications.

  • Fluency in oral and written English, paired with strong communications skills. Must also possess the ability to collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders and support functions.

  • Hands-on and proactive, prepared to work closely with external partners from different cultural backgrounds when required.

  • Ability to do short term business travels, domestically and internationally as required.
