What you'll be doing


Key accountabilities for a Senior Engineer within Balfour Beatty are:

  • Understands technical requirements for all setting out control and determines the techniques adopted
  • Provides primary site control
  • Conversant in MX Models, X Ref and AutoCAD (NRG or AutoCAD Civils 3D)
  • Coaches Section Engineers and Engineers on setting out techniques and ensures required setting out standards are maintained
  • Understands BMS and implements systems & processes
  • Produces/Ensures Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s) are in place for all activities
  • Maintains a comprehensive filing system of quality records
  • Identifies, raises and actions Non Conformance Reports
  • Actively uses the Specification as a reference document
  • Identifies and raises Technical Queries with possible solutions
  • Liaise with designer to resolve technical issues
  • Maintains and provides governance on Daily Diary and ensures Engineer/s maintain Daily Diary
  • Produces/Reviews Method Statements and Risk Assessments
  • Ensures Safe Systems of Work are adhered to
  • Service Coordinator
  • Has ownership of ‘Permit to Break Ground’
  • Has ownership of ‘Plant Access Authority’
  • Maintains information flow for input into the H&S file
  • Produces weekly program
  • Communicates weekly program and targets to the workforce
  • Coordinates Production of ‘as built’ program
  • Has input into 3 month program
  • Conducts material take offs and call offs
  • Reports upon weekly material reconciliation
  • Reviews cost and production of BB employed resource

Who we're looking for


We are looking for a Senior Engineer with the following skillset/knowledge/experience:

  • A full understanding of the technical requirements and techniques of setting out to exemplar standard.
  • Provides the lead in production of ITP’s
  • Understanding of construction tolerances
  • Awareness of Specification and other Contract documents
  • Knowledge of the requirements of BMS
  • Understands Permit System and actively raises permits to Work
  • Is able to identify potential hazards and is proactive in implementing actions and controls
  • Produces three weekly rolling program and manages their resource appropriately
  • Operates Material procurement schedule
  • Good understanding of key contract documentation & form of Contract
  • Understands specific terms, conditions and outputs of relevant subcontractors and suppliers
