The Accounts Payable Assistant will support the accounts payable department in processing payments, ensuring all invoices are accounted for and paid accurately and on time. The role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Overview of responsibilities:
- Review and verify invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper authorisation before processing
- Assist in preparing payments to suppliers, and other third parties, ensuring compliance with payment terms.
- Act as a point of contact internally liaising as required to address emerging issues – building a strong relationship with our suppliers
- Prepare Supplier Statement reconciliations for allocated list of suppliers ensuring that outstanding invoices are requested and processed appropriately;
- Confidently resolving queries using both written and verbal communication and building strong supplier relationships
- Support the finance team in month-end and year-end closing procedures related to accounts payable.
- Assist the Accounts Payable supervisor with on-going process improvement and streamlining of the Accounts Payable function
Knowledge, Skills and abilities required:
- Proven experience in accounts payable or a similar role is preferred (typically 1–2 years).
- Proven experience of working in a professional team adhering to deadlines
- Ability to work on their own initiative and a desire for problem solving
- Accurate and logical approach to work
- Proactive approach to problem solving and process improvement
- Working well with others and being an integral part of the team
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, data entry, etc.)
