Engineering Undergraduate Intern Full Time

Fixed-term: for 10 weeks; starting 9th June 2025 - 15th August 2025

The Opportunity:

We are looking for enthusiastic students from the School of Engineering to work on projects with either a teaching or research focus. Further details of the specific projects are supplied in the pdf available at: https://www.wiki.ed.ac.uk/display/etohub/Careers#Careers-SchoolSummerInternships

The internship will be 10 weeks starting on the 9th June. There will be around 8 interns working on projects from areas all over the School.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time (minimum 28 hours). We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

The salary for this post is £23,114 pro rata (£12.67/hour)

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • School of Engineering undergraduate student (2nd year to penultimate year)
  • Good knowledge of relevant engineering field and completion of required courses.
  • An understanding of the technical skills and topics useful to the project and ability to identify and solve problems within the current project.
  • Can work effectively in teams.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

Programme Information

The School of Engineering Internship Programme offers summer internships within the School for 2nd year to penultimate year undergraduate students from the School of Engineering at The University of Edinburgh. In addition to the project work the interns will be supported through a programme of events run by the School. There will also be the opportunity to take part in events run by the Careers Service.
