Theatre Assistant

To provide support to registered staff with the perioperative care of all patients. The post holder will possess knowledge of surgical procedures and be able to provide support to facilitate the delivery of high quality patient care.
Acting under the direction of registered practitioners the post holder will use available information regarding resource to support the delivery of perioperative care.
The post holder will participate in all aspects of perioperative care delivering direct patient care in a manner sensitive to the individual patient’s needs and wishes, acknowledging and respecting their rights and beliefs at all times.
Sustainability is integral to the Trust achieving the NHS Net Zero target. All staff are therefore actively encouraged and supported to implement new ways of working within their field of expertise.
The Royal Cornwall trust is spread across four sites; the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, St Austell Surgical Hub, St Austell, West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance and St Michaels’ Hospital in Hayle.
St Austell Surgical Hub has pre-op area, two theatres, first stage recovery area and a discharge lounge. The aim of the unit is to conduct high volume, low complexity surgery, in a number of different specialities within the day case surgery remit.
You will be working with multi-disciplinary colleagues as a member of the core theatre team.
