Job Description
Introduction to the role
Can you create thumb-stopping, eye-catching marketing campaigns that capture consumers’ attention and drive sales? Would you like to get stuck into delivering strategies for books that inspire, challenge, and make readers laugh out loud?
Come and join our award-winning marketing team at Farshore, home to TikTok sensations including Holly Jackson’sA Good Girl’s Guide to Murderand Tahereh Mafi’sShatter Me, modern classics including Lemony Snicket and Michael Morpurgo, fantastic non-fiction from authors including Deborah Meaden and Chris Packham, and the world’s most loved brands from blockbuster games like Minecraft and Pokémon to traditional favourites including Mr. Men Little Miss and Winnie-the-Pooh.
We are looking for a creative and confident senior voice to join our friendly, supportive and inclusive marketing team, bringing market knowledge and prior marketing experience to deliver standout consumer and retail marketing campaigns for titles across Farshore’s fiction, picture books, non-fiction and brands titles.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative and entrepreneurial multi-tasker with a strong understanding of the marketing landscape (especially digital).
Key tasks and accountabilities
+ Deliver commercially focused and strategic marketing campaigns to maximise sell-through and brand awareness of the title, titles or imprint, as required, with plans that encompass consumer & retail promotions and are delivered on time and on budget
+ Plan, own and present plans to all key internal and external partners, including licensors, authors, illustrators and agents
+ Manage and brief media activity both in-house and to external agencies
+ Deliver on all elements of marketing campaigns including content, advertising, partnerships, sell-in materials, proofs, copywriting, social media marketing and trade marketing
+ Develop collaborations with content creators across key channels
+ Manage the development of digital and printed marketing materials
+ Monitor ROI against pre-agreed KPIs and provide ongoing campaign analysis to key internal & external stakeholders
+ Use consumer insight and data to drive audience development for key authors and brands
+ Support the Marketing Executives on the development of Farshore’s annual Stocklist Catalogue
+ Manage Farshore’s retail marketing, working closely with the wider marketing team to support sales teams across the business
+ Work closely with Editorial, Sales and PR teams to support a culture of collaboration and integration
+ Act as a senior voice in the team, sharing best practice and supporting team members on marketing practices
+ Liaise with international teams on retail promotions and marketing assets
+ Promote Farshore’s reputation with external stakeholders including authors, illustrators, agents, licensors and customers
+ Remain up-to-date about the children’s and wider book market and pay attention to trends, bestsellers and Farshore’s title performance
+ Plan campaigns with contingencies to ensure they are delivered to budget
+ Contribute to, and attend, author pitch decks for new acquisitions
Skills Required
+ Significant and demonstrable evidence of designing and executing creative and innovative marketing campaigns
+ Strong knowledge of all relevant digital marketing channels
+ Excellent communication and people skills and ability to speak confidently and pitch ideas in internal and external meetings
+ Experience working in a marketing department at a trade publisher is desirable
+ Creativity essential
+ Commercially astute, with a focus on ROI
+ Strong relationship building skills and ability to manage relationships
+ Ability to prioritise and juggle a busy workload
+ Strong attention to detail
+ Active interest in the latest marketing trends and campaigns from across the book industry as well as the wider entertainment and media sector
+ Enjoys reading widely with an active interest in the publishing industry – particular interest in children’s & YA is desirable
+ Team-player, looking to share their learnings with the wider marketing team and foster a culture of shared learning
+ Line management experience is desirable
+ Experience of working to and delivering within budget
