Clerical Officer Full Time

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated person who will provide clerical administrative support in Community Paediatrics. The post will be based at Royal Alexandra Hospital, Marine Drive, Rhyl, Denbighshire LL18 3AS.

The successful candidate will have a good standard of education, good communication skills, be able to work on their own initiative and be efficient and organised with their own workload. The candidate should also have keyboard skills and experience of Microsoft Office Package.

A good telephone manner and communication skills are essential. The ability to speak Welsh would be beneficial but is not essential. The post holder will be required to demonstrate a professional and sensitive manner and maintain confidentiality at all times.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Inputting patient data on Child Health computer system including details of medical examinations, immunisation results, significant conditions and medical history

Updating and maintaining Child Health records including births, deaths, change of address and other personal details ensuring they are accurate for future reference and comply with the Data Protection Act

Checking and distributing copy patient letters from the Acute service

Arranging the transfer of records for children moving in and out of schools and in and out of the area. Sending records to and receiving them from other Child Health departments, Health Visitors, School Nurses and other agencies. Checking with GP’s, A&C and professional staff locally and in other areas to ensure that all resident children are entered on the computer system

Liaising with Health Visitors and School Nurses to help deliver an effective and efficient service

Receiving and responding to telephone enquiries from outside agencies and patient’s families and visitors in a professional, helpful and sensitive manner

Preparing new Child Health records for new births, inputting all details on the computer system, including the information for the Minimum Dataset for Wales. Checking birth details and liaising with midwives if necessary. Ensuring that these records are received by the Health Visitor as soon as possible to comply with legal requirements
