What you’ll do As an Engineering Lead, you’ll be tasked with a variety of responsibilities that are crucial to our success. This is a senior leadership level role and will blend both technical expertise with a great passion for coaching and developing people, including advocating team wellbeing.
- Lead and mentor a multi-skilled team to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions to support business goals.
- Collaborate with feature teams and third parties to identify and implement creative solutions that align with business objectives.
- Use agile tools, methodologies and data to monitor progress, addressing any issues promptly to ensure timely delivery. Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful implementations to live.
- Develop and document processes to improve engineering efficiency and service quality.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, fostering an environment of learning and growth within the team.
- Supervise the maintenance and enhancement of service infrastructure, ensuring its reliability and efficiency.
- Management of Third Party Suppliers to ensure solutions are performant, secure and resilient, and meet bank objectives and client needs.
- Monitor and analyse service performance metrics to continually improve our offerings.
- Accept 24*7 accountability and ownership to support availability, currency and performance.
- Ensure that all engineering activities align with industry standards and regulations.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within engineering, with a track record of mentoring and developing talent.
- Breadth of technical understanding across software development and architecture, service operations, DevOps, and cloud.
- Experience of agile development practices, DevOps pipelines, continuous integration / deployment, test automation and the E2E software development lifecycle.
- Strong communication skills, dynamic and adaptable, with the ability to facilitate efficient and effective decision-making. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with a diverse range of collaborators.
- Experience of managing Third Party Suppliers in the context of providing software solutions, including the configuration and testing of such products.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proactive and collaborative approach to finding solutions, and the ability to think strategically.
- Strong collaborator, capable of building and sustaining relationships at all levels.
- It would be great if you have experience of Lending in a Commercial context, but it’s not essential.
