Stirling Dynamics is recruiting for a Safety Engineer with aerospace electronics and software experience to join the Software & Electronic Hardware Capability Group.
Stirling Dynamics is looking for a talented Safety Engineer at Senior levels/grades to join our electronics & software team supporting key aerospace equipment development projects.
For this role it would be advantageous to have experience in one of the following disciplines: Electronics hardware, Embedded Software, Safety Critical System Development at equipment level, FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) design and/or verification.
The role will be based in our Bristol offices with occasional travel to our clients’ sites as required. As part of our commitment to flexibility for our staff, employees are able to work part of their week from home. - Providing safety input to bid, internal/external design review and/or certification related activities
- Guiding the safety programme requirements
- Collation of evidence and deliverables to support product safety argument generation
- Hazard identification & control
- Detailed analyses of complex systems using fault tree methodology
- Production of safety case reports
- System level analyses, integrating multiple sub-system inputs
- Platform loss modelling, integrating multiple system level analyses
- Zonal safety assessments (ZSA)
- Common mode / cause analyses (CMA/CCA)
- Particular risk analyses (PRA)
Essential skills: Specific skills/knowledge/experience should include subjects such as:
- Aerospace systems safety at equipment level
- Safety critical systems
- ARP4754 System Design Process
- ARP4761 Safety analysis
- DO-178C Airborne Software design
- DO-254 Airborne Electronics Hardware design
- FPGA Microprocessor architectures for DAL A, B, airborne equipment
- Hazard Logs and analysis activities including: HAZID, HAZOP, FHA
- Analysis techniques such as: FTA, ETA, FMEA, FMES
- Production of safety documentation such as PSSA, SSA, PRA etc.
- International standards e.g. IEC 61508, IEC 62368
- Working within a quality system environment, such as AS9100, ISO9001
- Requirements management tools e.g. Polarion, DOORS or Jama
- An ability to manage multiple tasks, to work independently when required, and the organisation and drive to follow defined processes through to a successful outcome
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including a diplomatic and professional approach when dealing with people
- The confidence to challenge practices and the willingness to question to gain a full understanding of issues
