We are seeking a motivated, client-centric Assistant Accountant to join a well-established accountancy and business advisory firm based in Shepperton, Surrey. This is a fully office-based role, ideal for individuals who are developing their accounting career and possibly studying towards Level 3 or Level 4 AAT or ACCA qualifications.

Position Details:

  • Hours: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Location: Shepperton, Surrey, with occasional travel to the West Horsley branch
  • Salary: £30,000 – £34,000 (dependent on experience)

Important Note on Location & Transport

While Shepperton is not in a rural area, public transport options are limited, so having a valid driving licence and access to a car would be highly beneficial for a more straightforward commute. This is a fully office-based role with occasional travel required to the West Horsley branch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in providing a full range of accounting and tax services to clients
  • Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts and VAT returns
  • Help build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance accounting skills
  • Assist in coaching and mentoring junior team members
  • Embrace new processes and technologies to contribute to practice growth

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualifications: Ideally studying towards Level 3 or Level 4 AAT or ACCA qualifications, or equivalent
  • Experience: Some experience in an accountancy practice is beneficial
  • Tech Proficiency: Familiar with accounting software such as Xero and Sage; proficient in MS Excel
  • Communication & Organisation: Exceptional communication and organisational skills, with keen attention to detail
  • Professional Development: A proactive approach to continuous personal and team growth
  • Driving Licence: Having a valid driving licence and access to a car is highly beneficial due to limited public transport options
