Job Advertisement: Practice Accountant (Junior)

This role is advertised on behalf of our client.

We are seeking a motivated, client-centric Practice Accountant (Junior) to join a well-established accountancy and business advisory firm based in Shepperton, Surrey. This is a fully office-based role, ideal for individuals who are developing their accounting career and are currently studying towards Level 3 or Level 4 AAT or ACCA qualifications, or who are on track to complete these within the next six months.

Position Details:

  • Hours: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Location: Shepperton, Surrey, with occasional travel to the West Horsley branch
  • Salary: £30,000 – £34,000 (dependent on experience)

Important Note on Location & Transport

While Shepperton is not in a rural area, public transport options remain limited. Having a valid driving licence and access to a car is highly beneficial for a more straightforward commute. Although not absolutely required, reliable personal transport will offer more flexibility, especially when occasional travel to the West Horsley branch is necessary. This is a fully office-based role.

About the Company:

Established in 2005, our client’s accountancy practice supports over 700 clients and offers a wide range of services, including bookkeeping, payroll, tax planning, and financial reporting. They have built a reputation for their collaborative, friendly environment and strong emphasis on professional development, providing a supportive setting where team members can grow their expertise and enhance their careers.

Why Join Us?

  • In-Office Learning & Growth: Real-time collaboration and mentorship ensure that you can quickly develop practical skills, benefiting from guidance by experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in delivering a full range of accounting and tax services to a varied client base, including SMEs and owner-managed businesses.
  • Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts and VAT returns.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Help build and maintain strong client relationships, offering friendly and proactive service.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities, enhancing both technical and soft skills.
  • Contribute to practice growth by embracing new processes and technologies that improve efficiency and client service.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualifications: Part-qualified or studying towards Level 3 or Level 4 AAT or ACCA, or on track to complete these within the next six months.
  • Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in an accountancy practice environment is beneficial, with exposure to practice-based accounting tasks.
  • Tech Proficiency: Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero and Sage; skilled in MS Excel.
  • Communication & Organisation: Excellent communication and organisational skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Professional Development: A proactive attitude towards personal and team growth, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Driving Licence: While not mandatory, a valid driving licence and access to a car is highly advantageous due to limited public transport options.

Benefits:

  • Free on-site parking
  • Support for professional memberships and ongoing development
  • A friendly, dedicated team environment

This position provides a superb opportunity to deepen your accounting expertise in a stable, office-based environment where you can make a meaningful impact. If you’re looking to advance your career in a team that values growth, learning, and outstanding client service, we’d love to hear from you.
