Line Manager/Reports to: Enterprise Technology Manager

Education Level: Graduate

Location: Three days a week on site in central London, two days a week from home

Salary: £25,000


Overview

We are creating a new Desktop Support Apprentice role. You will be a key member of the team, supporting our business to use technology to achieve our goals. You will get hands on with a broad range of technologies supported through formal apprentice training

Your mission

As a Desktop Support Apprentice, you will be the organisation's first point of contact for IT support. This role is integral to providing excellent customer service and timely support for IT issues, ensuring minimal downtime for end users. You will learn to handle basic troubleshooting support requests and escalate more complex issues to higher support levels. This role is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in IT service management, using the ITIL framework as a guide for managing incidents, fulfilling requests, and contributing to continuous improvement.


What will you actually do?

You’ll get hands on with a range of different technologies and services. Supporting our users to resolve their issues and finding ways to make the service run more efficiently.


Your responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Incident management – Log, categorise and prioritise incidents
  • Request fulfilment – Manage and resolve requests
  • Problem management – Recognise and document recurring issues
  • Knowledge management – Update and maintain knowledge base
  • Configuration management – Maintain accurate records of basic hardware/software configuration
  • Service desk management – Act as a first point of contact for users delivering high quality service

  • Basic knowledge of windows operating system (installation, troubleshooting, configuration)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, etc).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effectively handling end user issues.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely to non-technical users.
  • A friendly and approachable manner to foster a positive experience for end users.
  • Patience and problem-solving skills to handle end user requests and complaints.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic hardware/software issues.
  • Attention to detail in accurately logging incidents and maintaining documentation.
  • Education GCSEs in IT or related fields. Progress toward a recognised IT qualification (such as CompTIA A+ or similar) is preferred but not mandatory.
