THE ROLE
Ultimately, the Finance department manages the company finances and controls across the business, but we are also heavily involved strategically in the direction the business is travelling. On a day to day basis, we make responsible decisions to ensure cash is managed correctly and use our technical skills to complete month end cycles and reporting both internally and externally.
As part of a small team and reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounts Assistant will ensure that the day to day operations of the function run smoothly, including assisting the month end process to ensure it is delivered in a timely manner. This role holds responsibility for accounts payable and supporting the accounts receivable function across multiple entities.
This is a part time role working 25 hours a week on a 5 hour per day basis. The role allows for flexibility around the working hours.
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Responsible for managing customer collections, ensuring timely payment of invoices and accurate reporting to stakeholders on progress.
- Banking, bank postings, reconciliations and resolving any billing discrepancies or disputes.
- Processing accounts payable invoices.
- Assisting with the Annual Audits.
- Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts where required.
- Adhoc finance and operations projects and reporting as requested by the Financial Controller.
- Liaise with other departments to communicate financial information as required.
EDUCATION, BACKGROUND & TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
- Highly proficient organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to leverage various communication channels to drive results - e.g. phone, email, etc.
- Proven ability to maintain positive relationships with customers to facilitate payment processes.
- Able to effectively collaborate with internal teams, such as sales and customer service, to resolve and unblock customer issues.
- Experience with Xero accounting software preferrable.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, especially Excel and / or Google Sheets
- Some level of accounting experience or knowledge would be preferable.
- Experience in SaaS business preferable, especially at a startup or scale-up business
