What you'll do
We’ll be asking you to own the remediation of technical issues, the simplification and improvement of the application architecture and technology. You’ll provide effective leadership of a globally distributed team and build the API Engineering roadmap via effective engagement and understanding of stakeholder needs and on top of this, you’ll use your expertise to enrich the NatWest product offering and make sure that business solutions are optimised for our customers’ needs and align to the bank wide technology strategy.
You’ll also be:
- Taking ownership of the financial, commercial, and flow performance of the engineering function
- Managing the required risk culture, making sure that teams effectively collaborate to mitigate any issues
- Delivering, owning, and maintaining API Engineering operational stability and performance technology
- Driving innovation, automation, and simplification to evolve processes and ways of working to be more efficient and effective
- Supporting the Open Finance agenda by ensuring NatWest provide highly available, reliable and scalable API solutions Delivering the regulatory reporting and managing the relevant budgets provided
- Driving innovation and growth for the business
The skills you'll need
In this role, you��ll need to have hands on engineering experience across different tech stacks, in-depth domain or platform product knowledge and experience ideally within an API / Open Banking environment. Operational risk management, financial management, collaboration, and negotiation are all important elements of this role, as is strong commercial acumen with an acute understanding of the business landscape.
You’ll also be expected to have:
- Strong leadership skills, including Agile and servant leadership experience
- Architecture, design, and engineering skills, relevant to the specific platform
- Experience of working and running high performance, large scaled Agile and non-Agile programmes, projects, and teams
