Job Summary
For this role we are seeking an experience Field Service Engineer who is able to manage new customer sites, in addition to servicing a range of digital solutions on break/fix jobs. This will include working on new store sites where they are currently building. You must be able to manage your own time effectively as well as influencing other onsite individuals such as electricians and builders, to support you as needed, in order to prioritise Odema & Acrelec’s products being installed and signed off.
Full training will be given on our bespoke technical products and whilst part of this role will involve hardware swaps and repairs, sorting out connectivity issues and triggering software rebuilds etc the main focus will be on the ability to manage new store installations from beginning to end, overcoming whatever technical obstacles may develop.
Homebased, you will primarily cover a geographical region up to 100 miles from home, but candidates will be expected to work flexibly to suit the clients’ requirements. This may require travel throughout the UK to support the team as necessary or longer hours/days depending on the size and shape of the customers estate. Your normal working hours will be 8 hours per day between the times of 6am and 7pm, Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for new store installations, both inside and outside (dive-thru, self-service kiosk, server and networking infrastructure) after completion of training and alongside other engineering resources.
- Take ownership of field maintenance jobs assigned to you from first contact to completion.
- Work within a geographical region but be able to offer cover to ensure the smooth installation of Odema & Acrelec products in other regions as requested by the business.
- Understand the need for punctuality and commitment to completing the required tasks.
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety requirements in the workplace and onsite.
- Establish a clear channel of formal communications, so that each customer has a clear understanding of the progress of their maintenance or installation.
- Provide support and training to clients regarding Odema & Acrelec products as necessary.
- Deal with issues as they arise and understand when and where to escalate.
- Ensure quality standards are being maintained at all times.
- Set the right tone for your customers and continue to shape the client’s positive impression of Odema & Acrelec through regular engagement and accurate updates.
- Be committed to providing the highest level of customer service whilst managing multiple client requests.
Essential Skills, Experience, Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience working as a field engineer.
- Previous experience of QSR / Retail installations and Break fix visits to national clients
- Adhere to health & safety and manual handling guidelines.
- Able to use power tools (SDS drills, Grinder)
- Able and confident to work at height (inside and outside of retail outlets)
- Previous experience in the installation and deployment of IT systems and networks and be able to follow documented procedures.
- Experience of network installation, Cat 5, Cat 6, termination and testing (fibre would be an advantage)
- Able to work flexible hours, including some longer days as required.
- Full UK driving licence with no previous driving bans.
- Flexibility to cover a wider geographical area.
- Experience of working in a customer facing role, servicing multi clients or stakeholders.
- Strong customer service ethic and excellent organisation skills.
- Experience in co-ordinating a number of time critical activities alongside daily routine tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Calm under pressure and an ability to reprioritise at short notice.
- Be able to use a company laptop for admin tasks including completion of time sheeting and reporting in a timely manner.
- CSCS or ESC card ownership
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience of working on drive-thru’s, self-service kiosks or similar digital solutions
- Familiar with POS/EPOS systems (front & back of house)
- Ability to work to own initiative and within a team environment.
- Health & Safety awareness refresher training certificate.
