IT Apprentice Full Time

at Torus Group Liverpool in Liverpool (Published at 28-10-2024)

We are offering a fantastic opportunity for an (NVQ Level 3) to join our growing IT team.

In this role, you'll gain hands-on experience working with both hardware (servers and networks) and software (operating systems, applications, and middleware). You’ll be involved in gathering and analysing requirements, designing, testing, and implementing IT solutions, and providing support directly to end-users as well as for essential IT services.

This apprenticeship will allow you to develop critical skills and gain an NVQ Level 3 IT qualification through structured training and real-world experience. We’re looking for someone proactive, eager to learn, and ready to grow within a dynamic IT environment.

Location: Based in Liverpool, with occasional travel to other office locations.

Working Hours: Rotating shifts Mon-Fri, of 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm, or 10am-6pm as per the site rota.

  • Assist with the gathering and analysis of requirements to design, test, and implement IT solutions to meet business needs.
  • Provide high quality IT services to managers, staff and other customers within a culture of openness, participation and performance.
  • Diagnose and understand requirements and problems using sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Configuring & installing IT equipment as per documented processes and performing basic computer hardware & software installation and configuration.
  • Identifying and resolving issues regarding software, hardware, and operating system. Identify appropriate technical solutions using both logical and creative thinking.
  • Assist with the distribution and repairs of IT equipment.
  • Managing helpdesk tickets, ensuring that IT requests and issues are logged, tracked, and resolved efficiently.
  • Following up the status of problems and communicate updates and progress to customers in a timely manner until resolution.
  • Direct/Escalate unresolved issues to first, second and third line support teams.
  • Maintain a high degree of customer service for all support queries and adhere to all ITIL / service management principles
  • Troubleshoot a range of IT related issues relating to hardware (PCs, Mobile Devices, Printers etc.) and software / system applications and basic network issues. Work with colleagues to determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by customers.
  • Produce and publish both technical and end-user documentation on the IT Knowledgebase to assist staff with requests for information & provide staff training if required
  • Support the IT team to ensure operational procedures are in place, maintained and followed as approved by the Director IT & Transformation
  • Operates in line with organisational polices, standards, legislation, security requirements, professional ethics, privacy and confidentiality; and understands escalation processes.

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English (Grade 4 or above)
  • A passion for technology and problem-solving.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Enthusiasm to learn and develop within the IT sector.
  • A basic understanding of IT systems, including hardware, software, and networking.
