Mental Health Practitioner - CBT Therapist - Horizon - Oxford Full Time

at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust Oxford in Oxford (Published at 18-10-2024)

We, in Horizon, are a Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), working with children and young people experiencing distress as a result of sexual harm. There is no doubt that working in mental health, and particularly with sexual harm, can be challenging, but it can also be a hugely rewarding, and fulfilling experience, where you can make a real difference.

We are looking to recruit a qualified and enthusiastic Mental Health Practitioner for 4 days per week - you may be a Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist/CBT Therapist.

We offer an opportunity for hybrid working (working from office base for 2 days a week, including a Thursday as this is currently our team day) and also some flexibility with hours (8am - 6pm) in alignment with service need - we know how important a good work/life balance is.

Our main base is at Maple House, The Slade, Oxford, and we cover the county of Oxfordshire.

We are a small, supportive multidisciplinary team, who work alongside other professionals to support young people and families who have been affected by sexual harm. We work hard to ensure high quality patient centred care is in place and that our staff are supported in their roles and encouraged to develop.

We offer different levels of intervention, including advice and consultation with other professionals, assessments and we work directly with young people and/or their families using a range of trauma focused psychological therapies.

We take a ‘formulation-based’ approach to find a way of helping that is both evidence-based and specific to the needs and goals of the young person.

As a member of our team, you will receive ongoing support and development to enhance the care that you provide. Expertise gained through these experiences will enhance your professional and personal growth. We also regularly provide training and supervision on trauma informed care and practice to other professionals - there's plenty of opportunity to share learning!

Oxford Health is a great place to work and to be able to showcase the best of yourself when making an application you are encouraged to read the “candidate guide to making an application” which is attached to all roles.

Please include details around qualifications (including years these were gained particularly if we need to assess for clinical roles that these are still valid) and ensure that the supporting statement is tailored to the role you are applying for and addresses the essential criteria found in the JD.

As a Trust we provide physical, mental health and social care for people of all ages across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Swindon, Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset. Our services are delivered at community bases, hospitals, clinics and people’s homes, delivering care as close to home as possible. Our vision is that no matter who you are or where you are, you will tell us that you receive: “Outstanding care delivered by an outstanding team."

At Oxford Health we offer a wide range of benefits designed to support your career and wellbeing. These include:

  • Excellent opportunities for career progression

In this role, one of your key responsibilities will include offering psychological therapy including trauma focused interventions for children who have experienced sexual harm

You will also work together with other agencies to jointly develop clear Care Plans to mitigate risks and vulnerabilities across the child/ young person context and strength and any protective factors

You will work within a vibrant, enthusiastic and supportive team with regular clinical and management supervision.
