The Role
As the James Fisher Renewables (JFR) OFTO portfolio grows, we are looking for a Loler & Crane Engineer to join us and ensure that systems function efficiently, safely, and reliably through Load Calculation, Component Selection and Compliance and Standards. You will be working as part of the wider Asset Management Team and your tasks will include fault finding, carrying out repairs, maintenance & services/ tests and installation/ upgrades of all aspects of the Lifting Equipment and Crane Systems across all OFTO sites. There may also be some installation work involved.

This role will be home based with travel to our OFTO sites.

Role Accountabilities
  • Perform engineering calculations to ensure that the crane can handle the intended loads safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with the planning phase of all future works across all OFTO Sites.
  • Populate Lift Plans for all lifting operations across all OFTO sites.
  • Ensure that all crane and lifting operations comply with local, national, and international safety standards and regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards associated with crane operations and design.
  • Regularly inspect cranes and lifting equipment to ensure they are in safe working order in line with LOLER Regulations.
  • Recommend or enforce corrective actions where non-compliance is found.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the longevity and reliability of the cranes and lifting equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in cranes and lifting systems.
  • Plan and oversee projects related to the installation or upgrade of crane systems, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Maintain detailed records of all design, maintenance, and operational activities.
  • Offer technical support to Operations and Maintenance teams, providing guidance on complex issues.
  • Prepare detailed reports based on inspection findings, documenting any violations, deficiencies, or areas of concern.
  • Clearly communicate system designs, benefits, and any potential issues to clients and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support to clients and on-site personnel to ensure the system is operated and maintained correctly.
Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience and knowledge of testing, repairing and operating multiple crane and lifting systems.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, technical ability and IT knowledge.
  • NPORS/ City & Guilds in a Crane/ LOLER related field.
  • Crane Maintenance and Repair.
  • LEEA Qualification (desirable).
  • 18th Edition Electrical Qualification (desirable).
  • Experience in working in an Offshore environment.
  • Full clean driving experience.
