Special Projects Engineering Manager:

Position Summary:
The Special Projects Engineering Manager is part of a small, dynamic team focused on the delivery of exceptional content pushing the boundaries of engineering, design and execution. You will lead in definition, development and delivery of special projects and special wishes, playing a key role in realizing each client’s truly unique vision and demonstrating that “Everything is Important”. This will be a cross functional, global role based in Northamptonshire, UK.

Please note that this role is not in our Engineering Department, it is in our Design & Spec team.

Essential Functions:

    • Support the prompt generation of early concepts, timing and cost estimates associated with new special projects to feedback to our clients
    • Manage the execution of special projects and special wishes from brief definition through to delivery across all restoration services, both in the UK and the US
  • Work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, managing work streams and advising on best practices, doing what is necessary to steward excellent outcomes
    • Liaise with our supply chain and other external organizations to support the progression of special wishes where required
    • Contribute to the growth of special wishes capability within the business
    • Work closely with Specifications & Special Projects team to finalize specifications and resolve issues in time to support the parts ordering process, parts lead times and support the build schedule
    • Manage the process to track status of non-standard requests across all restoration services, allocating priorities and delegating tasks to relevant teams throughout the business to keep projects on track and aligned with vehicle restoration timelines
    • Support the generation of timing plans that support full program delivery activities
    • Support conversion of unique content into vehicle specific BoMs
    • Provide high level support in managing the continuously changing information coming from internal functions and Singer clients, maintaining records appropriately. Track and communicate this to all those affected

Qualifications:
Required Education/Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, design, or relevant field
    • Five (5) plus years of experience within luxury automotive industry or equivalent brand/industry
    • Eight (8) plus years of professional Automotive design/experience
    • Proficient using Adobe Creative Suite software, CAD software (CATIA preferred)
Preferred Education/Experience and/or Certifications
    • Project Management Experience

Skills/Abilities and Attributes:
    • Self-motivated and able to perform tasks and projects with little supervision
  • Energetic, proactive, calm under pressure, personable and mature personality
    • Provide creative solutions to complex design problems communicating design ideas effectively
    • Passion for automotive interior and exterior design
    • Proactively and creatively solves design /engineering requests in a timely manner
    • Understanding of ergonomic and automotive regulatory requirements
    • Excellent understanding of production vehicle design practices, general vehicle development processes
    • Positive and effective interpersonal communication skills as well as cross-functional team leadership
  • Strong team-player – ability to thrive in a small, closely-knit team
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
    • Occasional travel for business purposes
    • Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms at computer keyboard for long periods of time
    • Must have ability to speak clearly and distinctly and hear and be heard and understood in person, by telephone and email
