12 Month Fixed Term Contract Position purpose Primary purpose of role is to support the VAT manager in preparing the quarterly UK group VAT returns, Annual Adjustment and Capital Goods Scheme calculations, and liaising with external providers to ensure that VAT returns in the rest of the world are prepared and filed in a timely manner. Partnering with our operations and business functions to identify any changes which may impact the tax position of the proposed and existing transactions and work with the business to deliver practical solutions. Collaborating with other members of the Tax function, including Transfer Pricing Senior Manager and Direct Tax colleagues as required, eg assisting with data analysis for TP and helping to manage the Group Tax budget. The successful applicant will also be involved in both VAT and non-VAT ad hoc projects. Main responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of the UK Group VAT return while ensuring the return is Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliant.
- Taking ownership for the monthly reverse charge VAT accounting.
- Reviewing various monthly/quarterly VAT reports to ensure that the information is complete and accurate.
- Updating VAT process notes.
- Ability to communicate VAT issues with various teams within finance with a view to resolving them.
- Prepare monthly VAT training materials for AP and assist in providing the pertinent training.
- Ongoing effort to automate the VAT compliance processes using PowerBI
- CoHo VAT return for Funds
- Assisting the Head of Group Tax with managing the Tax team budget
- Assisting other members of the tax team as required
- Has an interest in VAT / Tax and is eager to gain new knowledge
- Outgoing and interpersonal skills
- Excellent excel skills.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to review, interpret and manipulate large amount of data.
- Keen on automation, ideally with experience in using PowerBI to automate processes.
- High level of attention to details.
- Strict observance of procedures and protocols
- Ability to manage conflicting deadlines and liaise with external advisors
