  • Salary range - The Partnership salary range for this role is set at £53,000 - £85,000

  • This position is Permanent

  • Working pattern/flexible working - This is a blended working role, therefore your time will primarily be split between working from home and the London Head Office. However, there will also be an expectation to visit other locations as the need arises.

  • Location - This role is based at our London Head Office campus in Pimlico. Please note, any cost incurred as a result of travel to the office is the responsibility of the successful candidate. There is no travel allowance for this role. There is also a responsibility to visit our John Lewis branches / Suppliers / Trade Shows when necessary. You will be able to claim travel expenses for these journeys.

About the role

At the John Lewis Partnership we have created a successful Insights and Media offering. However, as the Retail Media industry is in growth, we are also looking to significantly grow our offering. Creating Insight & Media propositions which create WIN-WIN-WIN outcomes: (i) more engaging experiences for Customers, (ii) growth for JLP, and (iii) growth for suppliers.

To deliver against this ambition, we need to accelerate our Retail Media maturity and curate and develop a market-leading, impactful and differentiated portfolio of propositions across the JLP portfolio, that drive value and deliver against the brand and trade objectives of our Supplier partners.

The Vendor Manager will hold the main Retail Media Commercial relationship with the Retail Media vendors but this will grow as needed as we evolve and continue to transform the Partnership’s Retail Media business. This role will work closely with wider matrix teams to support the vendor relationships that we hold, ensuring active two way communication and continuous improvement to how we work. They will support a feedback loop within the matrix teams that interact with the vendors from a Retail Media commercial perspective as well as providing data and insight that enables us to grow relationships. The Vendor Manager will also have a collaborative relationship with internal teams (e.g. Tech and Change) that also interface with our third party vendors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops strategic commercial relationship with the Media vendors/ partners and ensures that the Commercial value is maximised to help deliver Retail Media business targets.

  • Supports the Retail Media Proposition Lead with commercial information during the vendor selection and onboarding process where needed.

  • Holds Vendors and internal teams to account to continuously improve relationship to deliver revenue improvements for the Partnership. Creates an active feedback loop.

  • Shares best practice to and from Vendors to improve our Retail Media strategy and performance

  • Keeps a constant relationship with Vendors, updating them on our Retail Media ambitions and understanding their priorities.

  • Supports building external Retail Media profile through speaking and networking at Media events.

  • Support cross function matrix working to onboard Vendors and renew terms agreements as needed. Develops good relationships with procurement and the product team as examples to do this.

  • Engages regularly with and aligns with the Partnership Tech owners of the vendor relationships to ensure that we are presenting a combined and aligned voice externally.

Qualifications & Experience (where applicable)

Essential

  • Credible experience of managing third party relationships in a fast paced retail environment

  • Experience of contractual and terms management

  • Evidence of building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships

  • Commercially minded with evidence of working with financial data and information to improve results

  • Ability to be collaborative and engaging across a number of teams with different priorities

  • Credibility gained through previous roles to land quickly and look for opportunities to improve relationship

Desirable

  • Further qualifications in marketing or business

  • Established understanding on business processes to select, onboard and contract with third parties
