Accounts Assistant Accounts Assistant is an essential position in a company’s accounting department. The accounting team is responsible for maintaining an efficient, organised and accurate finance function for the business and the Accounts Assistant is responsible for assisting with a variety of day-to-day financial operations such as sales and purchase ledgers and basic bookkeeping. Duties and Repsonsibilities
  • Checking bank statements for incoming monies and allocate/reconcile against the ledger
  • Answering telephone calls with regards to queries from suppliers
  • Coding, gaining authorization and booking of purchase invoices
  • Matching purchase invoices to purchase orders
  • Administration and input of expense forms in multiple currencies
  • Preparation of the payment run
  • Maintenance of daybooks and Ledger Control Accounts
  • Reconciliation of suppliers statements
  • Cashbook administration and bank reconciliation (daily)
  • Credit Card reconciliation
  • Any ad hoc duties that are required in order to fulfill the needs of the accounts department
  • Filing of purchase invoices, sales invoices and purchase and sales orders.
  • Provide cover for Management accounts duties on the production and raising of sales invoices and credit notes
  • Regular liaising with customer services team
Skills
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, specifically accounts payable & receivables
  • Hold or be studying towards a relevant accountancy qualification like, AAT or early stages of ACCA/CIMA
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with previous knowledge of dealing with high volume and overseas customers/suppliers
  • Team working skills with a professional manner and commercially aware
  • Enthusiastic, committed and a fast learner with previous experience of a busy environment
  • Computer literate with an aptitude for numbers
  • Good MS products skills
  • Ability to work with individuals across departments and liaise with external customers and contacts
  • Solid organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload
  • Working closely with individuals across the Europe wide business at all levels
