Community Development Lead Full Time

This role will facilitate effective engagement between the Community Living Well Talking Therapies service and local stakeholders, referrers and community. The post holder will develop proactive strategies to ensure the service is well understood in the community with clear and accessible referral pathways, and that the services develops and communicates in a way that is effective for the local population and referrers, whilst continuing to adhere to national guidance for NHS Talking Therapies Services. A key area of this role is to ensure the service is addressing health inequalities in the local population.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the service develops an effective outreach and engagement programme which enables the service to achieve the expected key performance indicators.

To be a key figure in the borough in helping the local community (both professionals and members of the public) understand local Mental Health services and how to navigate these, as well as ensuring that feedback from the community is heard and considered by Mental Health services.

The post holder will be expected to have well developed organisational and business support skills of their own in order to meet the requirements for this role.

  • To create, through co-production, an outreach programme the meets the needs of the local population in understanding and managing anxiety and depression, with a particular focus on addressing health inequalities.
  • Co-ordinate and support the provision of supervision to staff with a primary role in delivering the outreach and engagement programme.
  • To promote a culture of service user choice and co-creation for the Talking therapies outreach and engagement programme and to monitor and develop team members through supervision and appraisal.
  • To provide line management with clear goals and objectives to community development team staff.
  • To ensure that all opportunities for outreach and engagement work by the service are maximised with a wide range of local organisations.
  • To work with senior team colleagues, to develop a shared Service model for outreach and engagement.
  • To support effective liaison with other relevant agencies
  • To maintain and develop administrative procedures regarding the recording of case records.
  • To support and ensure that service users are involved in the development of the team and local services.
  • To facilitate the development of effective identification, engagement and support for carers in line with CNWL and good practice guidelines.

Communication:
  • To work as a key part of the CLW TT SMT
  • To work actively in partnership with services users and carers
  • To engage directly with service users to ensure effective consultation regarding service standards and development
  • To facilitate and enhance good intra and inter team working and promote reflective practice
  • To develop and maintain strong links with GPs
  • To ensure the team maintains close liaison with all local agencies that support service users, including primary care network and voluntary sector organisations
  • To maintain close liaison and address interface problems with CNWL and Local organisations/Community groups
  • To ensure good working links with other agencies who may be involved in referring service users or providing services for them
  • To disseminate professional developments and changes in policy or legislation, information regarding services and community resources, to ensure that staff utilise these services or developments for the benefit of services users
  • To work with the CNWL and CLW communications department in all areas of communications, including developing leaflets, information for use on social media, and any other means identified.
  • To attend liaison meetings with other team agencies, for example CNWL, housing, learning disabilities etc.
  • To represent CLW TT at senior level meetings, including (but not exclusive to) partnership network meetings and PCN meetings
Training, Recruitment and Management of Resources:
  • To ensure team members have the competence to undertake the work of the team and to participate in delivering in-house training.
  • To ensure that professional trainings and legal requirements are met.
  • To promote training for students on placement
  • To provide line management for staff who have a primary role with outreach and engagement work.
  • To ensure all staff for whom he/she has line management responsibilities receive supervision and appraisal on a regular basis, in line with service policy
  • To recruit team members when required
  • To ensure HR procedures for CNWL are implemented
  • To manage disciplinary and grievance issues in accordance with policies
  • Ensure that arrangements are in place for monitoring staff attendance and sickness in line with CNWL procedures
  • To ensure that all disciplines in the team adhere to agreed operational policy
  • To facilitate a multidisciplinary team/shared leadership approach and maximise the use of staff resource to the benefit of service users
  • To ensure that arrangements for risk assessment and management are agreed and adhered to
  • In conjunction with other managers, allocate work and ensure systems are in place to ensure appropriate workload and responsibilities.
Research and Development

  • To participate in and promote research including QI projects as agreed with senior Management
  • Ensure work carried out by team members is based on evidence-based practice (as far as possible)
  • Take a proactive lead to create and maintain connections to local community and third sector organisations, GPs and local faith groups continually using information gathered from these roles and connections to improve and adapt the service to ensure it meets local need
  • To ensure strong links are maintained with the other CNWL community teams
  • To ensure the team maintains close liaison with all local agencies that support service users, including the Metropolitan Police Service, primary care and voluntary sector organisations.
  • To ensure good working links with any other agencies who may be involved in referring service users or providing services for them.
  • To work actively in partnership with service users, carers and the local population to develop the CLW TT offer
