Responsibilities:
- Define and communicate the Engineering strategy to align with the overall Customer and Technology strategy and objectives
- Own the overall Engineering of the Technology Solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, security and performance,
- Partner with the Product Lead and Digital Engineering team to build best-in-class solutions to service the needs and demands of the Digital business and customers
- Partner with the other areas of Technology to ensure all Digital Change is transparent on their backlogs of work, e.g., Service, Infrastructure
- Lead the identification and evaluation of new technologies, tools, and vendors that will enhance the Digital capabilities and efficiency
- Be an advocate and leader of the agile methodology to move towards delivering more incremental change and value for customers
- Lead on technical decision making that aligns with the overall goals
- Ensure the quality, performance, security, and scalability of the existing and new Digital software solutions
- Working with the Technology Engineering area to establish and maintain best practices, standards, and processes for software development, testing, deployment, and operations.
- Oversee the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software products and services across web, mobile, and in-store channels to the agreed technical standards
- Manage the Digital Engineering budget, resources and risks with plans in place for mitigation
- Create, Lead and develop a high-performing Digital technology team made up of in-house New Look resource as well as on and offshore teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Communicate effectively with senior management, business stakeholders, and external partners
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- At least 10 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years of experience in working with agile methodology, leading and managing engineering teams
- Ability to develop individuals and teams to achieve a high level of performance, using a coaching and mentoring style of leadership
- Experience in shaping and influencing a digital technology strategy with a proven ability in owning and setting strategies, patterns, standards, policies, roadmaps and vision statements
- Proven ability to define and execute the technical vision and strategy for Omnichannel, and to deliver solutions that meet the business needs and expectations
- Strong knowledge and experience in designing, developing, and operating Omnichannel solutions, using technologies such as cloud, microservices, APIs, web, mobile, and e-commerce
- Experience of agile and waterfall methodologies
- Hands-on experience in using various cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and their services and features.
- Proficient in using various programming languages, frameworks, and tools, such as Java, Python, Node.js, React, Angular, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
- Familiar with various Omnichannel technologies and standards, such as RESTful APIs, GraphQL,OAuth, OpenID Connect, etc.
- Significant knowledge of modern technical architecture models, web and cloud technology, DevOps, software development including BDD and TDD, and data management methodologies
- Demonstrated experience in applying agile, DevOps, and CI/CD principles and practices to Omnichannel engineering
- Understanding of strategic solution and service design to ensure legacy is kept at bay with levels of technical debt held to a minimum
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and teams across the organization
- Track record of leadership which adds strategic value to an organisation
