The role
We’re on the lookout for an experienced Part of Fully Qualified Accountant who is passionate about management accounting and ready to drive strategic financial decisions that support our corporate ambitions.
Your mission:
- Provide financial accountancy services with detailed analysis and informed advice through an expert finance lens.
- In this role, you will be at the heart of our financial operations, taking charge of budget monitoring across key corporate finance areas.
- Lead a team of accountants supporting financial planning for the organisation and for two service departments.
- Support the delivery of a balanced budget and Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS), coordinating a range of corporate finance functions.
- Ensure the integrity of financial information and compliance with regulatory frameworks, adopting a best practice approach.
- Support the achievement of financial targets, departmental business programmes, and management practice performance.
- Offer valuable finance insights to the Senior Finance Management Team (SMT), ensuring the success of our corporate objectives.
- Take on additional responsibilities including business administration and deputising for the Assistant Director or Finance.
How will you make an impact:
We need a dynamic and experienced Accountant with proven experience of Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS) who will bring a blend of the following:
- Progress towards or completion of chartered accountancy qualifications (CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, or ICAS).
- A collaborative and adaptable approach, with a passion for engaging others and fostering a cost-saving mindset.
- Previous MTFS accountancy experience, ideally within Local Government or Public Sector.
- Proficiency in financial reporting, analysis, and strategic decision-making.
- A passion for creating and maintaining a cost-conscious culture, balanced with practical pragmatism.
- The ability to design and implement robust processes, structures, and systems to support change management.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the capability to embed sound financial principles and controls.
- Enjoy a balanced approach with flexible home working, alongside occasional travel to our London Bridge HQ.
