College Technology User Support Full Time

About the role

Sense is recruiting for a College Technology User support to join our team in our Loughborough College. This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm.

The College Technology User support will work closely with teaching staff and students to ensure our IT systems and resources are working effectively and efficiently. As well as day to day support requirements the post holder will be forward thinking and support technology improvement projects and identify best practice and ways of working. The successful candidate will support Staff and Students of the College in use of Technology, including Office 365 and specialist education software. As well as promoting the effective, efficient and secure use of Office 365 and associated products and configuring technology equipment, in accordance with College and Sense technology standards, including setting up rooms as required for college use.

Key responsibilities

  • Investigate, diagnose and respond to all requests for assistance or support, ensuring issues are resolved or escalated in a timely manner in accordance with agreed standards and procedures, liaising with the Sense Technology Team as required.
  • Promote the effective and safe use of ICT throughout the College through training staff and other activity, with specific responsibility for O365.
  • Develop and promote best practice use of O365 across the college, working with the Sense Technology Team to rationalise the O365 environment and review licencing arrangements on an ongoing basis.
  • Utilise the IT Helpdesk call logging system and processes to ensure a timely response to all participant and staff enquiries.
  • Install, configure and maintain desktop hardware and software.
  • Work with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure IT supports effective curriculum delivery.
  • To carry out monthly breach tests to provide confidence that college filtering and monitoring solutions are working effectively.
  • To carry out an annual online safety risk assessment.
  • To work with the college Designated Safeguarding Lead to review and update block and monitoring lists.

Key skills and experience

  • Level 2 English and Maths.
  • Level 3 qualification in ICT or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of Microsoft O365 products, to include use of, installing, configuring and supporting.
  • Experience of training and supporting users in the effective use of O365
  • Experience of developing and implementing information management processes across an educational environment is desirable.
  • An understanding of access technology and associated products, such as screen readers and magnification software, or the ability to quickly acquire this is desirable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, adapting the style of communication to the audience.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience, both verbally and in writing.
  • An ability to build effective working relationships with internal colleagues and external agencies, so that objectives are met consistently and change is introduced successfully.
  • Ability to adapt within a changing environment and to keep abreast of developments in technology.
  • Ability to draft and implement College ILT self-assessment reports and plans.
