About the role:
You’ll be part of our finance team, reporting directly into the Senior Indirect Tax Manager.
Your primary focus for our indirect taxes will be VAT compliance and the day-to-day management of international VAT and customs duties compliance, efficiency and effectiveness of core processes and controls related to indirect tax. For our Direct Tax, you will initially assist the outsourced service provider.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting the outsourced service provider in preparing the tax packs and preparation for filing of the annual corporate income tax returns.
- Ensuring compliance with all tax regulations.
- Assisting with supporting documentation for filing of R&D tax claims.
- Collaborating with the outsourced service provider on tax planning and research to optimize tax liabilities.
- Supporting the preparation of tax provisions and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Coordination with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Monitoring changes in tax legislation and assessing their impact on the organisation.
- Assisting with annual transfer pricing filing and compliance.
- Aggregating data required to be submitted for VAT registrations worldwide.
- Ensuring VAT returns, supplementary declarations, EC sales lists etc. are filed accurately and on time.
- Submitting requests and ensuring all payments are made on time.
- Maintaining a schedule of VAT touchpoints in each jurisdiction and monitoring the impact of any changes.
- Ensuring compliance of current UK VAT returns and development of future returns in line with MTD guidelines.
- Reconciliation, and review of nominal ledgers relating to VAT and transactions.
- Ensuring that all import and export documentation requirements are met.
- Maintaining required records for indirect tax in line with legislative requirements.
- Providing ad-hoc indirect tax advice to colleagues.
About you – you’ll need to have:
- Proven experience in international VAT and customs duties.
- Strong academic background with ATT/CTA or equivalent qualifications.
- Excellent IT skills and Microsoft packages including Advanced Excel knowledge, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
- The ability to explain financial information clearly.
- 3-4 years’ experience in a similar industry, Pharma Industry is desirable.
- Proven experience in handling complex supply chains transactions.
- Experience in the preparation and filing of corporate income tax returns.
- Knowledge of local tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Good understanding of corporate income tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Advance Knowledge of SAP.
- The ability to work part of a team.
- Excellent analytical and numerical abilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address tax-related issues and discrepancies.
