Network Security Engineer - Warwick (Hybrid) - up to £65,000

The Network Security Engineer role is a key part of the Security function here at National Gas, playing a crucial role in delivering a holistic security service to the whole of the organisation.

About The Role
Due to continued growth within the Security functions, we are seeking a talented Network Security Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis.
You will design, implement, and maintain an organisation-wide network security architecture, ensuring secure communication and data flow, whilst collaborating with network engineering teams to establish secure network configurations, including firewalls, routers, switches, and VPNs.
You’ll monitor and analyse network traffic patterns to detect malicious activities or potential breaches, leveraging advanced security tools and intrusion detection systems, and implement and manage network access controls, ensuring only authorised users and devices can access specific network segments.
You will also collaborate with the wider IT teams to establish and enforce a rigorous patch management process for network devices.
This is a hybrid role based between Home and Warwick, and the closing date for applications is 5th September 2024.
About You
- Excellent commercial experience and certifications in Security Network Engineering
- Knowledge of endpoint security and application security best practices
- Familiarity with cloud security principles in GCP and/or Azure environments
- Understanding of data security and encryption mechanisms
- Experience with programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java)
