Mechanical Design Engineer
The Opportunity:

In this role, you will use your excellent communication skills and prior experience to deliver market-leading design solutions within the building services industry, while ensuring full compliance with relevant regulations.
The Role:
- Collaborate with clients to develop design criteria.
- Produce detailed mechanical services drawings and schematics using AutoCAD.
- Engage in all project phases, from site surveys to detailed design work.
- Ensure all designs are compliant with building regulations.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience in creating mechanical designs.
- Proficiency in using design software.
- HND qualification or higher in a relevant field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work on a variety of tasks including:
- Renewable energy system design.
- Gas-fired plantroom and boiler output planning.
- Surveying gas meters and determining building load requirements.
- Selecting appropriate flue types and ventilation systems.
- Calculating pump duties with redundancy measures.
- Determining hot water requirements and selecting cylinders.
- Creating layout and schematic drawings.
- Calculating expansion vessel sizes and total water content within heating systems.
- Selecting pressurisation units, PHE or LLH, and managing hydraulic separation.
- Setting pressure relief valve settings and determining operating heating pressures.
- Preparing equipment schedules for boilers, pumps, and other components.
- Conducting design calculations for pipe sizes, insulation thicknesses, and distribution systems.
- Calculating individual room heat inputs and selecting equipment and control locations.
- Specifying material types, insulation thicknesses, and pipe bracket locations.
- Scheduling fittings, brackets, and expansion locations.
- Determining isolation valve locations and emitter schedules.
