We are looking for an Asset Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in maintaining and improving our water network

Based in Raynesway, you’ll be responsible for overseeing our potable water pipe bridge asset class and managing and maintain our risk management system. You’ll be responsible for running a programme of inspections assessing the condition of our pipe bridges, collaborating with field teams to conduct inspections, identify defects and recommend remedial work.


As well as managing your own pipe bridge asset class, you will work with other asset class owners and key stakeholders across the business to oversee the implementation of our ST-ORM risk management system and monitor and manage risk mitigation activities.


You’ll need to be a team player who can communicate effectively at all levels to ensure risks are documented, known, understood and acted upon to ensure they are mitigated to an acceptable level within agreed timescales. The role will require a mixture of short term planning to address current operational issues as well as long term planning to manage the risk profile over time. You will have no direct reports but will be expected to co-ordinate the activities and data flow across other departments.You’ll provide advice and support to the business on risk and risk management.


In order to succeed in this role it is expected that you will have previous experience in risk management or asset management whilst ideally also having a good understanding of water networks to ensure operational risks are appropriately managed.

This is a supporting role in asset management but does require a degree of autonomy.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR


  • Someone with an engineering degree, risk management or asset management qualification would be desirable
  • A full UK driving license and flexibility to travel is essential.
  • You’ll need a proven track record of translating data into useable information and translation for business information reporting. A track record of the development, implementation and improvement of processes to identify, capture and mitigate risks would be desirable.
  • Effective communication skills are essential for the role which is largely involved with managing the business interface for operational risks through interactions with stakeholders. The role holder will also be required to describe and summarise STORM information with different audiences of varying seniority.
  • Influencing and negotiating skills are particularly important for ensuring the delivery of key activities by business units outside of the direct control of the role holder.
