About Haringey

Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.

Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About the role

As an Employer Engagement Officer with Haringey Works, you will play a pivotal role in connecting local residents with high-quality, sustainable employment opportunities. Your primary responsibility will be to cultivate relationships with local and regional employers, identifying their staffing needs and securing job opportunities that align with Haringey’s Inclusive Economy Framework. You will actively facilitate job carving and seek innovative opportunities, particularly in growth sectors and roles with flexible working hours. Additionally, your role will involve promoting vacancies, coordinating candidate screening sessions, and ensuring that all interactions with employers are meticulously tracked and documented. This role is crucial in ensuring that local residents directly benefit from the council’s social value commitments and procurement activities.

About the team

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our new Inclusive Economy service, which is responsible for delivering the borough’s Inclusive Economy Plan, Opportunity Haringey. With several key roles available, we are seeking results-driven individuals who are passionate about providing high-quality support to our diverse residents and businesses. As we prepare for the London Borough of Culture 2027 and Euro 2028, it’s an ideal time to join us in driving our plans forward. Our Employment and Skills teams include Haringey Works, our employment support service offering recruitment and skills assistance to residents and businesses, and Haringey Learns, our Adult Learning Service.

About you

You are a dynamic and results-driven professional with a deep understanding of the local labour market and the challenges faced by both employers and job seekers. Your background in business-to-business development and recruitment equips you to forge strong relationships with employers and secure meaningful job opportunities for Haringey residents. With experience in account management within the employment sector, you have a proven track record of meeting targets in a fast-paced, target-driven environment. Your excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team will help you thrive in this role. Additionally, you are adept at using IT applications, open to new ideas, and skilled in sales and marketing.

Working for Haringey

At Haringey Council we are committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included, and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce so welcome applications from all ethnicities and communities so that we continue to make a difference to our residents and community. Our benefits package includes a leave entitlement of 31 days + bank holidays, potential hybrid working opportunities, health and wellbeing support, a generous local government pension scheme and a range of discount schemes across leisure and culture that provide both financial and money-saving discounts.
